BIOS updates often contains update to the ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface ). My computer is free of viruses and malware, i run a virus scan on a fairly regular basis.

Maybe hibernate doesn't work either. While I'm been on this ride since before DOS those dumps have been useful 1 time. You may have to disable UAC to copy them.
